Thurgambikai Murugayah obtained her Master of Clinical Psychology and is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC(CP)00772). During her practical training at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM, Klinik Psikologi UKM, and Pusat Permata Kurnia, she gained extensive hands-on experience working with diverse clinical populations across psychiatric, neuropsychological, and neurodevelopmental settings. She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Her clinical work includes conducting diagnostic interviews, psychological and neuropsychological assessments, cognitive profiling, and delivering therapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs. She has worked with individuals presenting with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, personality disorders, gender dysphoria, neurocognitive disorders (including dementia and Parkinson’s disease-related cognitive changes), as well as neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

           

            Her therapeutic approach is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while integrating techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused interventions, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Play Therapy, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), exposure-based approaches, safety planning, and social skills training to best suit the needs of her clients. She is committed to delivering structured, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive psychological care. She ensures that clients feel respected, heard, and supported by approaching each therapeutic relationship with empathy, professionalism, and openness. She believes that meaningful change begins with psychological safety, self-awareness, and a collaborative therapeutic process.
