Matilda Xavier is dedicated to helping children and adults experiencing psychological issues. She takes an integrative approach to suit her clients needs and severity of the psychological issues. While her orientation is mainly psychodynamic but she also uses creative therapy when emotions and thoughts are too difficult to express with words. She believes in providing effective and individualized treatment for each of her clients,  and works with people from all walks of life and in a variety of settings.


She is an effective motivator and has strong interpersonal and organizational skill. She had the innate ability to establish rapport quickly, build trust and work with all types of personalities and situations to resolve issues and achieve challenging goals. She is an adjunct lecturer and a clinical supervisor. She conducts talks and workshops on mental health. In addition, she is an author of children’s and English-language school books. She has more than 30 years of industrial and academic experience.


Humanitarian Work: 

Matilda is actively involved in psychosocial work for refugees and trafficked victims, and disasters, and has worked with Medecins Sans Frontiéres (Doctors Without Borders), the International Organization for Migration, UNHCR, Kumpulan ACTS and Mercy Malaysia.

  • Psychological assessments and screening for personality profiles, neurodevelopmental disorders and neurocognitive disorders including for patients with traumatic brain injury.
  • Psychotherapy for people with personality disorders, Depressive and Anxiety disorders, Trauma and OCD.
  • Management for schizophrenia and bipolar disorders.
  • Counselling for people living with HIV and AIDS and their families.
  • Conducting talks, workshops and seminars on mental health.
  • Clinical supervision.
