Khay Lum

Clinical Psychologist (M. Clin. Psych, HELP)

MAHPC(CP)00256|MSCP CP1-0238

Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours) degree from the International Medical University, Khay worked with the Malaysian Mental Health Association, a mental health rehabilitation centre, for two years. This sparked her interest in the mental health field and she realized the need to deepen her knowledge and skills to advocate for early intervention for mental health conditions.

This led to her pursuing her Master in Clinical Psychology at HELP University, Malaysia. She completed her practical training at Help University’s Centre for Psychological and Counseling Services (CPCS), an online psychotherapy platform, several NGOs and Mentem Psychological Services. After completing her Master in Clinical Psychology, she joined Mentem Psychological Services as a practitioner.

Throughout her training as a Clinical Psychologist, Khay has practised on an online mental health platform, a refugee clinic, non-profit organizations and private centre, providing psychological services and administering assessments for children with developmental issues and adults suffering from depression, anxiety, psychosis, trauma and grief.

While journeying through inner struggles can be really challenging, she believes that healing starts with accepting the parts of oneself that one deems unacceptable and accepting the uncontrollable parts of circumstances. Khay strives to create a safe space for individuals to find meaning in the unchangeable and change the changeable through genuine connection, authenticity, empathy and evidence-based interventions.
