Helenna is passionate about increasing awareness about mental health, in the hopes of bridging the various gaps to normalize mental health. She believes that educating people about mental health is just as important as educating people on physical health, as they are cyclically linked. And, like physical medical conditions, people with psychological issues require proper assessment and care. She strongly believes in the importance of mental health awareness to reduce the stigma associated with mental health and help-seeking behaviour.

has worked as a Research Assistant (RA) in the Department of Psychological Medicine at a government hospital, and was involved in research projects which focused on substance abuse/addiction and palliative care. To expand and deepen her clinical knowledge and skills before pursuing her postgraduate degree, Helenna worked with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private outpatient centres.
